“People Don’t Want To Be Sold”!….really?

Upfront I don’t agree with this premise because I think it’s very misleading…however on it’s surface I understand why many would agree with the phrase “People Don’t Want To Be Sold”. The problem with the phrase is that it furthers diminishes the many positive  advancements the sales profession has created for our society, and furthermore it entrenches the negative stereotype of the sales profession/sales professional. We ALL like to be sold “the Right Way” (i.e. with honesty, integrity, listened too, and care), so to generalize “People Don’t Like To Be Sold To” in my opinion is inaccurate. Your thoughts? I would certainly appreciate your opinion! Thanks!!
